The IX edition of the Venetian Smart Lighting Award, an event designed to enhance the lighting products and solutions of companies within the Rete di Imprese Luce in Veneto and those operating throughout the Veneto region, successfully concluded this year at the magnificent Palazzo Cà Tron in Venice, the headquarters of the Iuav University of Venice. The award ceremony took place on Thursday, July 11, starting with a welcome networking session and continuing in the noble hall of the palace where the awards were presented to the finalist products in five categories. These products stood out for their creative ability to adapt to the needs of the contract sector, offering new product design for the market, special-use lighting solutions, portable rechargeable lamps, and the art of glassworking.
The winning products were selected by a technical jury composed of lighting designers and personalities from the world of lighting. Specifically, the jury included: Bianca Tresoldi, president of APIL and lighting designer as jury president, Laura Bellia, professor at Federico II University of Naples and president of AIDI, Roberto Beraldo, architect and president of the Order of Architects PPC of Venice, Alberto Pasetti Bombardella, architect and lighting designer, and Alberto Bassi, design critic and professor at Iuav University of Venice.
The winners selected by the jury are as follows:
Frisè combines materials and shapes in a complex set of innovative functions. It revisits the historical relationship between the light source and the reflective diffuser with a contemporary formal look. The jury rewards the technical effort undertaken in creating a lamp that has effectively combined aesthetics and functionality.
This decorative lamp’s ability to defy gravity, combining the ability to illuminate and characterize a space in a single object, is highly expressive. The lamp is visually pleasing and technically interesting. The jury rewards the company’s research work, recognizable in the design care and essential figure, a blend of drawing and technology, slender form, and lightness.
The rigor of the design, the precision of the expressive language, and the sincerity of the materials characterize this portable lamp. Its assembly simplicity through technical and functional elements offers significant versatility. This battery-operated portable accent light stands out for its 1980s-inspired shape and pleasing industrial design, making it easy to use in various interior types.
Primary and clear shapes characterize this extremely versatile rechargeable lamp. Different from those on the market, this lamp stands out for its timeless design, which does not dominate the spaces it inhabits. The originality in the combinations of form and function creates a playful yet minimalist lamp, based on the simplicity of the circle.
Different planes of transparency and light materiality create a product with an extremely refined aesthetic language through a complex system of lighting and well-calibrated colorations. An elegant solution that recovers the classic archetype by combining the refined pleated touch and the transparency of glass in a balanced proportion of elements.
This year, the communication award, dedicated to Silvano Oldani (former Director of LUCE magazine and jury member for several editions), was judged by a qualified jury of journalists and sector publishers, including: Mariella Di Rao, director of Luce, Alexander Indorato, International Account Manager Archiproducts, Anna Vitaliani, journalist at Rai TGR Friuli V.G, Alberto Favaretto, Co-founder of Rebula Digital Agency and Federico Galluzzi, Publisher at Staff Editoriale. The recognition aims to reward one of the finalist companies in the five categories that stood out in product communication and corporate communication strategy.
For a broad and transversal communication, youthful, fresh, and at the same time authoritative, that effectively incorporates stories, characters, information, and suggestions. Rich in content that effectively contributes to communicating the brand with a design of strong personality, demonstrating consistency both formally and substantively with the company’s values: “craftsmanship and design,” two strengths of made in Italy, “Murano, the light dances on the Venetian canals,” everything evokes places and emotions. It creates an engaging and effective dialogue with the audience, confirming the timeless beauty of contemporary creativity.
Finally, the Network awarded a special mention to Daniele Bagnara of the company Vetrart Snc as “Master Glass Craftsman”.
The closing remarks were held at Palazzo Cà D’Oro, where architect Alberto Pasetti Bombardella presented the lighting installation he curated, featuring Casambi technology.
