Salone del Mobile.Milano announces the first international forum of Euroluce: an open discussion on Lighting Design
On 10 and 11 April 2025, during the 63rd edition of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, the first edition of The Euroluce International Lighting Forum will kick off, a biennial event that reinforces the Salone’s focus on the most current and crucial issues in lighting design.
The Forum will be held in Halls 2 and 4 and will bring together international players for two days of debates, round tables, conferences and workshops. Participants include lighting designers, creatives, architects, scientists and lighting professionals, who will explore central topics related to light, from its integration into architecture to its role in improving well-being. Among the first confirmed names: DRIFT, specialized in installations and performances that create fascinating parallels between artificial and natural structures; A.J. Weissbard, lighting designer and multifaceted artist of international fame; the Dutch Marjan van Aubel, young but already a leader in solar design who looks to a sustainable, innovative and conscious future.
Light will be analysed in a universal and intimate perspective, exploring its impact in public and private spaces. Key themes include sustainability and the integration of lighting into projects, always with the aim of improving the quality of life and contributing to the future of the planet. Future editions of the Forum will focus on specific aspects of lighting design, offering practical tools and creative ideas for designing increasingly sustainable spaces. The Forum is the result of the evolution of the path taken by Euroluce, already successfully renewed in 2023, and aims to become a reference point for the lighting sector. The goal is to combine tradition and innovation, an approach that recalls the spirit of Italian design, integrating business, research and creativity in a contemporary and stimulating context.
The official presentation of the Forum took place in Munich, the inaugural stage of the European tour of the Salone del Mobile to tell the story of the 2025 edition. On that occasion, designers and professionals met in a round table moderated by Sandra Hofmeister. Speakers included Carla Wilkins, IALD Board Member and Senior Partner of Lichtvision Design; Stefan Diez, industrial designer with experience at SaloneSatellite; Simon Schmitz, a designer who explores light as a synthesis between functionality and aesthetics.
Maria Porro, President of the Salone del Mobile, underlined the importance of the Forum by declaring: “Light is increasingly an integral part of our lives. The Forum, as a crossroads of ideas and visions that lead to dialogue, creating a fertile humus for innovation, reflects the DNA of the Salone del Mobile.Milano, which has always been the generator and bearer of new ideas and formats to face contemporary challenges“.
Carlo Urbinati, President of Assoluce, added: “Light not only makes things appear but creates atmospheres, depth and perceptions capable of interpreting architecture and open spaces, as in a pentagram. And the role of the designer is increasingly similar to that of the conductor, who does not limit himself to performing the score, but gives a personal reading of it. It is with such a strategic role in mind within the sector that Assoluce of FederlegnoArredo felt it was time to organise a dedicated international forum. I would therefore like to thank the Salone del Mobile.Milano for having decided to give shape to this idea with The Euroluce International Lighting Forum, confirming, once again, how our fair is not only the world’s leading event in the design and furniture sector but, unique in the world, is the home of entrepreneurs committed to designing the future of the sector they represent“.
With the launch of this new format, Euroluce 2025 is an unmissable event to explore the latest trends and technological innovations in lighting design, in a context that embraces the complexity of the modern world.
