ORGATEC, the trade fair dedicated to work environments and contract, recently ended in Cologne, presenting a broad overview of the future of the office and large projects. The 2024 edition, with a new pavilions layout and thematic areas focused on specific trends, recorded a total of 729 exhibitors from 40 countries and 50,000 professional visitors from 126 countries, with an international rate of 56%. The great innovation and strong creativity of the exhibiting companies were rewarded by a significant increase in visitors and their high quality compared to the 2022 edition, consolidating the importance of this biennial for the sector.
“In close collaboration with our partner, the German Interior Business Association (IBA), we have made ORGATEC a go-to destination to shape the future of work. The considerable increase in visitors underscores the international significance of this leading trade fair. ORGATEC has demonstrated yet again that Cologne is an outstanding venue for interior design trade fairs – impressive results can be achieved by working together” says Gerald Böse, President and Chief Executive Officer of Koelnmesse.
Helmut Link, President of the IBA, adds: “The new trade fair concept is a complete success! With the Work Culture Festival (Wherever Whenever Work Culture Festival), ORGATEC transformed itself into a real industry show. The success of ORGATEC 2024 sends a clear signal: A strong trade fair is important for our industry, especially in a challenging economic phase. When the sector association, its manufacturers, and their trade fair work together as partners and know the needs of their target groups – architects, HR professionals, the industry and services, to name just a few – and keep their requirements in mind, it creates an outstanding event. ORGATEC 2024 did more than just present the latest products – it also showcased the concepts for tomorrow’s world of work that are urgently needed now.”
The new concept, focused on industry topics, won over visitors and exhibitors: ORGATEC 2024 presented itself with a redesigned trade fair format, planned for thematic areas, which offered visitors numerous insights into trends and developments in the world of work. Interactive and immersive areas shed light on topics such as the circular economy, augmented reality, hybrid workspaces, sustainable technologies for materials and smart solutions for building management. The exhibitors were an active part in these areas, with the display of some of their particularly representative products.
One of the trade fair’s special highlights was the Work Culture Festival Wherever Whenever, hosted in close collaboration with the IBA. The inaugural edition of the festival attracted more than 100 international speakers from the fields of architecture, design, New Work and trend research. Renowned experts such as Sascha Lobo, Jette Hopp and Sabine Marcelis shared their views on current challenges in inspiring keynotes and panel discussions. They were joined by prominent figures, including Smudo and Ralf Rangnick, who shared their own sector-transcending ideas for the future, opening up new perspectives.
A major new feature of the 2024 edition was the Hybrid Interior Design format, hosted in a hall with important brands, which combine home, hospitality and office furnishings in their collections. Thanks to the formats of the Circle, Premium spaces and Pure Galleries, top-of-the-range companies had the opportunity to exhibit their new products in a pavilion with an elegant and evocative atmosphere.”
“At ORGATEC 2024, the Italian companies present had the opportunity to expand their commercial network, thanks to the many highly qualified professional operators who visited the exhibition”, explains Thomas Rosolia, CEO of Koelnmesse Italia, who expressed satisfaction for the excellent performance of this year’s edition. “Both the companies in the Made in Italy area organized by Koelnmesse Italia and the individual exhibitors appreciated the novelty and originality of this year’s edition, as well as the high quality of the visitors. ORGATEC stands as an unmissable international point of reference for the sector, in a period of great transformations and changes for the office world, which is increasingly hybrid and fluid” concludes Thomas Rosolia.
