Luce5 renews its collaboration with Nomad, enhancing the dialogue between art, design, and light
Luce5 reaffirms its artistic and technical partnership with Nomad, the renowned travelling showcase dedicated to contemporary art and collectable design. Since 2023, the company has distinguished itself through its contribution to illuminating not only the exhibited works of international artists and galleries but also the unusual settings that host the event.
The result is an immersive exhibition experience designed for collectors, curators, designers, and enthusiasts. In line with its commitment to exploring new frontiers in contemporary lighting, Luce5 established in 2023 The Art of Lighting Award, a recognition aimed at promoting the production of works that explore the language of light through the interplay of creativity, craftsmanship, and technology. Open to all artists and affiliated galleries, the award seeks to unleash creative vision, freeing it from the constraints of production requirements, and to enrich Nomad’s curatorial proposal by incorporating luminous works of high artistic and conceptual value. Each edition features a jury composed of Nomad’s founders and Luce5 experts, who select a winner and bring their project to life through a meticulous process of prototyping, realization, and refinement within Luce5’s Tuscan ateliers.
Nacho Carbonell, an internationally renowned artist and designer known for his sculptural and experimental approach to light and materials, is the winner of the latest edition of the award. His luminous work, presented by the prestigious Galleria Rossana Orlandi, was unveiled during the Winter Edition of Nomad, which took place in St. Moritz from February 20 to 23, 2025. Developed in collaboration with Luce5, the project consists of two elements, i.e. one ceiling chandelier and a wall installation. These pieces embody a synthesis of materiality and lightness, crafted in cast bronze with luminous branches made of coloured glass powder. Carbonell’s installation has been one of the most anticipated moments of the fair, reaffirming the central role of light in the relationship between art and space. Throughout February, Luce5 has shared exclusive content on its digital channels, documenting the creative process behind the work unveiled, as said, last February in St. Moritz.
