J-us by Alessandro Zambelli has been selected by the ADI Osservatorio Permanente del Design for publication in the ADI Design Index 2024, an honor that puts the product in the running for the Compasso d’Oro awards in 2026
J-us, designed by Alessandro Zambelli for Luceplan, is a true metamorphosis of the traditional chandelier with arms. The product has been selected by the ADI Osservatorio Permanente del Design for publication in the ADI Design Index 2024. Innovative in its technology, versatile in its form, J-us revises the concept of the traditional chandelier, reinterpreted in a contemporary spirit.
The central aluminium structure with a cylindrical form (Ø 28mm) becomes a novel electrified track ready to host the various arms of the chandelier, permitting multiple configurations: the product with its slim profile and dynamic design responds to a variety of interior design needs, for contract and/or residential applications. The collection is available in the black or satin-finish gold versions.
The arms are made of layered material – in copper and fiberglass – usually utilized for the production of electronic circuits, which conducts electricity in a practical, functional way.
The built-in LEDs – equipped with technopolymer diffusers – emit warm, welcoming and high-performance light, suggesting the memory of candlelight
Alessandro Zambelli studied industrial design and materials engineering at the Cova School of Design in Milan, and his career took off in 2000. After several years in Milan, he chose the Mantua countryside as a place to live and work: a territory rich in history, in references and atmosphere that is a continual inspiration for his work. His approach is characterized by a constant research by the interaction between human being – object – environment and his passion for new technologies and materials.
Over the years Alessandro Zambelli has explored various design fields: industrial inventions, manual experimentations, installations, product design, industrial design and creative directions. Different types of approaches that converge in the same design philosophy, where they often intersect with each other, creating solutions with a strong experimental character; they have attained numerous awards, including the European Consumer Choice 2011, the NYIGF Award 2012, the ADI Award for Innovation 2014, the Interior Innovation Award 2015 and the Premio dei Premi 2015, established by the President of the Italian Republic. The designer has exhibited his work in Europe, USA, China, Korea and Japan.
