Axi is the first series designed by French designer Patrick Jouin for Italamp: a Murano glass collection where technology and tradition, experimentation and centuries-old know-how in glass manipulation coexist.
Axi is a chandelier with a “retro-futurist” aesthetic, composed of a tubular structure made of white borosilicate glass that contains an LED light source, interspersed with metal elements from which extend arms onto which colored art glass elements are attached, gravitating around the central element. These elements have an arched, textured surface that filters light with plays of transparency and refraction.
Envisioned by the designer as “a sculpture in space and a functional object,” Axi ideally reproduces the rotational motion of a satellite around a planet, which in turn moves around its axis. Offered in a horizontal or vertical version, Axi is available with the elements in three color combinations (salmon pink/transparent/cherry, blue sky/grey/blue sky, transparent/cherry/grey) and can be customized with a higher number of modules to illuminate and decorate large spaces.
