Rete di Imprese Luce in Veneto presented the Innovation Lab. The ambitious project will develop two new spaces in the lighting sector: the Light & Green Lab and the Light & Design Village
Rete di Imprese Luce in Veneto – as a representative body of the Venetian Smart Lighting Regional Innovative Network – officially presented the Innovation Lab. The ambitious project will lead to the founding of two spaces dedicated to the lighting sector: the Light & Green Lab based in the university complex in Mestre, Via Torino and the Light & Design Village located at Villa Cà Marcello in Piombino Dese.
The Innovation Lab aims to strengthen the competitiveness and innovation capacity of the lighting sector, combining training, research, certification and experimentation.
A space within the Technical Physics laboratory of the IUAV University of Venice dedicated to certification tests for lighting fixtures by carrying out electrical safety tests;
Over 300m2 dedicated to a wide range of activities and open to the entire lighting community – architects, engineers, designers, specifiers and installers – aimed to carry out specialist training, experimentation and prototyping activities to develop innovative solutions, always keeping an eye on sustainability and digitalisation.
Both spaces represent a strategic investment for the future of lighting, thanks to the use of advanced technologies and services aimed at sustainability, energy efficiency and innovation, responding to the needs of a constantly evolving global market, which will allow us to increase the competitiveness of local lighting engineering companies in international markets.
The Innovation Lab will be a fundamental meeting point between the academic and industrial worlds, creating an ecosystem that will encourage innovation and growth thanks to the collaboration between universities, research centres, technological science parks and companies that will collaborate for the development of cutting-edge solutions and for the design of training offers that can train new professional figures by responding to changing market needs. The Innovation Lab also intends to represent a point of reference for local secondary schools interested in introducing students to the world of lighting and interacting with companies in the sector with a view to new job opportunities.
This integrated approach will allow students to gain direct experience while working on tangible projects, and companies will be able to count on a new generation of highly qualified professionals ready to face technological and creative challenges.
The laboratories will offer the companies access to new technologies and tools for experimentation, transforming ideas into concrete solutions. Furthermore, the Innovation Lab will represent a response to the needs of the global market, emphasising sustainability, well-being and safety through light.
The collaboration of companies, academics, and training bodies will stimulate research and development and prepare operators in the sector, creating a continuous flow of innovation that will fuel the entire industry.
The Innovation Lab was born thanks to a solid network of partners at the local, regional and European levels and in particular: Veneto Region, Veneto Innovazione SpA, Chambers of Commerce of Padua, Venice-Rovigo and Treviso-Belluno, Unioncamere, IPA Camposampierese, Municipality of Piombino Dese, Iuav University of Venice, University of Padua with the UniSMART foundation, Galileo Science Park, Italian School of Design, European Lighting Cluster Alliance and all companies associated with the Network.
Therefore, The Innovation Lab represents the lighting future and a platform merging research, technology and creativity at the service of all the professional figures who can support its development, thanks to digital transformation. The scheduled opening of the new spaces is 2025. The official presentation happened on December 18th 2024, with the intervention of professional figures who supported this strategic project, a fundamental opportunity to explore the potential of the laboratories, deepen their impact on the sector and outline the guidelines for a more innovative and sustainable future of the lighting sector.
