To enhance its LED optical design services, Universal Science has announced the distribution agreement for the LiME measuring instrument, designed by Optics for Life. The innovative photometric device simplifies and speeds up light mapping while maintaining its completeness.

Light Mapping Equipment

LiME, an acronym for Light Mapping Equipment, is an innovative photometric device designed to simplify and speed up light mapping while maintaining completeness. This measurement instrument enriches Universal Science’s product and service offering, closing a year of significant growth in optical design, from strengthening the team of in-house optical designers to distribution agreements with two of the world’s largest optical manufacturers.

LiME is a device designed for fast and accurate photometric measurement with a high-resolution camera for instant mapping of 2D illuminance, computing luminous flux, and obtaining numerous other optical and photometric parameters. Thanks to its simplicity of use, LiME allows quick photometric measurements, eliminating the need for more complex devices such as goniophotometers or lux meters, which require much longer analysis times. The device easily connects to your PC and provides immediate results, making it ideal for selecting optical components, evaluating new samples, or comparing competing systems.

LiME is ideal for mapping most light sources, from the smallest to the most powerful. The system provides precise, reliable measurements using a high-quality monochrome CMOS sensor and special low-distortion optics.

Its main features include:

  • False colour illuminance maps
  • Luminous flux measurement
  • Analysis of photometric parameters
  • Linear cross-sections and 2D illuminance images
  • Calculating FWHM (Full Width at Half Maximum) and FA (Focal Angle) angles
  • Customizable angles for specific applications

The advantages of using LiME

The use of LiME is particularly advantageous in research and development. Its ability to provide precise measurements in a short time allows optimal control of the production process and continuous improvement of the quality of the final product. In addition, thanks to its versatility, LiME saves time by improving process control and accelerating test feedback. That leads to an improvement in the quality of the final product and reduces development time.
