Bollywood style for the renewed “Marhaba” Bar Restaurant in Lancashire (UK) is a new place where the millennial pink is still alive, so much so that the pink velvet sofas and chairs upholstery, luxurious cascades of cherry blossoms from the ceiling and swanky prismatic glass discs to illuminate the tables, deserved to arrive in final in the Restaurant Design category of the SBID International Design Awards. Thanks to Bibi Interiors interior design studio, and to their founder and designer Junaid Khan, who chose the “Horo” disc pendant lamps designed by Pierre Gonalons for Masiero in 2020 for the lighting of the tables. Characterized by a circular structure in brushed brass and prismatic glass diffuser with the particular diamond point pattern finish, in single or multiples of three elements, they harmonize in shape and color with the rest of the furniture.

“To me lighting is a key component in any design in any space. How the space is lighted is very important and where it’s a feature piece or architectural it is the one element that has the power to create drama or tranquillity. Here, the light creates a play of light thanks to pink glass details used throughout the interior. “In this case, the shape and colour fit very well with the colours chosen for the interiors. The strength of the project is represented by the details and finishes of the lights. Horo integrates perfectly.”

Junaid Khan, Bibi Interiors Ltd. founder and designer

When Marhaba Restaurant Bar sought a new look and layout, Bibi Interiors produced an interior design that reflected its focus on family, community and social connection. An open, uncluttered design with a controlled colour palette. Gold, white and muted pinks create an emotionally soft and warm atmosphere that encourages relaxed conversation. Blossom flowers fall from the central ceiling, which features elegant brass stripe lights and pink pendant lighting. The same colours extend to the fluted wall panels, wall lights and bespoke Italian seating. They create a mood that is warm, bright and fashionable. The blossom motif is also echoed in the wallcovering; its imagery deliberately diffuse, eschewing precision for softness.
