Belektro – 40th anniversary closes with an increase in visitors

10 June 2024

Under the motto “Network”, around 15,000 professionals discussed the evolutions in electrical, digital and building technology

From 5 to 7 November, everything at the Berliner Messegelände Exhibition Centre revolved around the future of building technology. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary, belektro has gone far beyond the classic trade fair event. Not only sectors such as HVAC and roofing but also MEP designers, energy consultants, lighting designers and architects are present. The focus was on interprofessional exchange.

“Whether it’s the installation of heat pumps, rooftop PV systems and energy storage systems, the creation of a charging infrastructure for the electric car or smart home applications, the energy transition within one’s own four walls is in full swing,” says Ruth Senitz, head of the belektro project. “The networking of the air conditioning sectors is essential here. With belektro, we offer a platform for the entire industry in Berlin and Brandenburg to exchange ideas, discover innovations and drive forward joint projects. In its 40th year, belektro is more interconnected than ever.” The central point of contact was the VernetztEuch Lounge to promote future projects and partnerships and expand interprofessional cooperation.

At belektro, more than 220 exhibitors presented the entire range of networked building technology: electrical and lighting engineering, heating technology, renewable energies, air conditioning and ventilation technology, tools, software and digital technology. The focus was on products and services for implementing the energy transition in the construction sector. A total of 14,983 industry professionals attended belektro. That means the Fair records an increase compared to 2022, with 14,000 professionals. According to a survey, the participants were particularly interested in electrical installation and building system technology; 9 out of 10 respondents also rated their trading results at this year’s Belektro as “good” to “very good”.

From workplace safety to the smart home: an extensive support program

Circular construction, living in the digital age, heat pumps or impulses for the energy transition. The professionals have been informed about current industry topics in multiple forums, seminars and conferences. The E-House, presented by the Zentralverbands der Deutschen Elektro- und Informationstechnischen Handwerke (ZVEH), offered a comprehensive overview of the future of networked living on 100 square meters.

Street Workshop and Journeymen’s Rally for Young Professionals

Aiming to inspire young talents in the electricity sector and to support companies in their search for qualified personnel, belektro offered an extensive program for young people who were able to learn about the latest assembly techniques and processes at the Werkstattstraße. The young talents got to know the exhibiting companies and participated in the Berufsgenossenschaft Energie, Textil, Elektro, Medienerzeugnisse (BG ETEM) seminars. The focus was on preventive measures for apprentices in the electrical sector, as one in four accidents currently occurs among electrical apprentices. And that is right where experts have come in, to raise awareness of the safe and accident-free workplace in the electrical sector.
