Let’s shed light on the Emergency

5 March 2025

The ASSIL RoadShow is underway to train operators on the design, management and maintenance of emergency lighting systems

The RoadShow promoted by ASSIL – the Association of Lighting Manufacturers – and CEI, the Italian Electrotechnical Committee dedicated to technical training in the emergency lighting sector, will start from Bologna and touch Milan, Rome, and Naples. The four events, which see the collaboration of UNI – Italian Standardization Body, the Fire Brigade and the Order of Engineers and Industrial Experts, will explore the theme of the design and maintenance of emergency lighting systems, essential devices to ensure the safety of people, in an environment or building, in case of dangerous situations.

Regular maintenance thus becomes vital to ensure their functionality when needed. Thanks to the collaboration with the Fire Brigade, each meeting will illustrate the requirements referred to the design and control of emergency lighting. In particular, it will examine the latest regulatory updates for the design (EN 1838), supply and maintenance of these systems (EN 50172). During the RoadShow, ASSIL will present the VISUAL GUIDE, a guide on emergency lighting created by LightingEurope, the association representing the lighting industry sector at the European level, and to which Italian experts representing ASSIL have also directly contributed.

The guide gives a comprehensive overview of the correct installation and maintenance of emergency lighting following relevant regulations and legislation. The guide developed thanks to the help of leading experts in the field, represents a beacon able to help every building and lighting professional to access the emergency lighting world in a timely and up-to-date way, a fundamental technology to save lives.

Training and safety are two fundamental aspects of our association. And light can be a precious ally when the safety of citizens is at stake.” – explains Carlo Comandini, ASSIL President. That is why we have decided to organize a roadshow with the aim of training operators in the correct management of emergency lighting, which can be a valuable ally in facilitating the safe evacuation of people present in the building in the event of an emergency.”

Organized with the unconditional contribution of Beghelli, Eaton, Inotec, Linergy and Schneider.
