Innovation in lighting and hospitality

The international success of Linea Light Group

Linea Light Group, a Treviso-based company founded in 1976 and a pioneer in LED technology, is today one of the biggest players on the international lighting scene with a consolidated turnover in 2023 of almost 100 million euros, three production hubs (one in Italy, one in the USA and the third in China), 19 technical-commercial offices and 530 employees worldwide. The Group’s international success is based on values that have always been rooted in craftsmanship, quality and innovation typically Made in Italy. A philosophy geared towards the research, development and realisation of state-of-the-art lighting solutions that blend well with architecture, nature and people. At Linea Light Group, the designer’s idea is realised in a quality product that lasts over time, designed for the client’s specific needs. It is not for nothing that Linea Light Group was among the first companies in Europe to specialise in LED technology, in response to the need for greater energy efficiency, better lighting effectiveness, more colour fidelity and, finally, the versatility needed to adapt to every situation. Today, Linea Light Group is a company with a strong international presence: thanks to a portfolio with thousands of solutions, a capillary sales network, and multiple locations around the world, its global output ranges from entertainment to architectural, from hospitality to office to retail, and finally to residential.

Precisely with regard to the hospitality sector, Gianni Bolzan – the Group’s managing director – makes some important observations: “Hospitality accounts for more than 15% of Linea Light Group’s turnover. The company follows and is followed with interest by professionals, designers and large groups in the sector, offering a very complete range of products ranging from indoor to outdoor applications, including spas and swimming pools, and being a reference for the entire supply. We can therefore offer support – not only on the product – in the study phase or on site, with customised products if necessary. With these figures we are confident, in the immediate future, of further international expansion of our Group in the hospitality sector.”

There are many projects in the Hotellery sector, in Italy and around the world, illuminated by the company’s proposals. Like the aparthotel CO99 Art Building & OPR Gallery in Milan, an example of lighting with an extremely contemporary indoor/outdoor style: an aparthotel in the heart of the city of Milan, offering environments designed to meet modern living needs, combining technology, design and art. Inside the building is in fact OPR Gallery, the contemporary art gallery, whose spaces host exhibitions, talks and events throughout the year. Also shining with light are the façades of beautiful historical buildings used as hotels such as Palazzo Broletto in Milan or Palazzo Doglio in Cagliari (Sardinia). The latter, an important example of façade lighting, has undergone a thorough redevelopment, which has preserved the authentic spirit of the 1920s, starting with the external façade made more contemporary and immediately recognisable. At the same time, the study of light played a leading role in the project, acting as a common thread between the various renovation elements. Starting from a context where night lighting was an almost absent element, useful only for road traffic, an environment was created where lighting contributes to bringing the area back into the dynamics of city life.

Linea Light Group also offers specially designed lighting solutions for swimming pools and SPA & Wellness areas: an example of this is the lighting project for the Aria Retreat & SPA in Porlezza (Como Lake), which aimed to create a charming and impressive atmosphere. Overlooking Lake Lugano and only 14 kilometres from Bellagio, Aria Retreat & SPA represents the excellence of five-star superior hospitality integrated into the landscape. Exclusive and elegant spaces that interpret a new concept of luxury, furnished with design elements and works of art, skilfully mixed with customised lighting fixtures, created ad hoc for the project (also for the 1,500 square metre wellness centre with swimming pools and fitness areas), to welcome guests and make them feel pampered. Wellness and business in an unprecedented dimension also for The Westin London City, a recent proposal of the famous hotel chain, overlooking the Thames with a spectacular view of the river. The lighting design was conceived to be perfectly in line with the hotel’s overall theme: wellness. To further emphasise the hotel’s elegant atmosphere, an accurate lighting design by lighting designers Nulty in collaboration with Studio Moren, which saw the use of various Linea Light Group solutions, including in the SPA area and the fitness room. The final effect is a feeling of calm and tranquillity that pervades visitors from the moment they arrive.

A particularly fine example is the illumination of the Garden of the Hotel de Russie, one of Rome’s most prestigious venues, located between two famous city squares: Piazza di Spagna and Piazza del Popolo. Described as a “paradise on earth” by the poet Jean Cocteau, it is a favourite destination for writers and celebrities thanks to its prestige and luxury. Its Garden, which forms a unicum with the slopes of the Pincio Hill of which it is part, is considered a work of art and a cultural asset of primary importance. It was conceived by its creator, Giuseppe Valadier, as a true piece of outdoor architecture, where classical stylistic elements were harmoniously blended with artificial natural elements, such as the spring rock, fountains and nymphaeums, and strictly natural ones, such as plants, borders and shrubs. Yesterday as today, the Garden is a green jewel set in the centre of Rome and one of its most representative places. The recent restoration project aimed at enhancing all its parts also thanks to light, with Linea Light Group’s solutions playing a leading role.

Linea Light Group’s hospitality lighting proposals help to transform hotels and resorts such as the Mandarin Oriental in Muscat in Oman, the Kuda Villingini Resort Maldives, the Crowne Plaza in Dubai and Riyadh or the Waldorf Astoria Lusail in Doha into magical places where food and relaxation can be experienced.
