Architectural lighting: Light At Motion – Living the outdoor

9 December 2024

Why not use the golden ratio in lighting design as well?

Minimum Maximum: from the golden ratio to the product

The perception and use of the Golden Ratio are crucial issues in design. Present in everything in nature and interpreted by Leonardo Da Vinci, during the Renaissance it influenced many world-renowned artists and architects who proportioned their works according to the golden ratio: the Golden Ratio indeed manifests itself in various works of art that have been praised worldwide as unique and timeless masterpieces. Analyzing the typical geometries used in different cultures around the world, it is evident that Western aesthetics is based on orthogonal shapes, while the aesthetics of Eastern and Middle Eastern cultures is based on logarithmic triangles. Although very different from each other, every geometry employed in various cultures still respects the “Phi” ratio of the golden ratio. We can therefore confidently say that the perception and use of the golden ratio are also fundamental in lighting design.

Light At Motion meets the diverse cultures of the world and provides tools for a new storytelling of lighting.
The different sizes of the Minimum Maximum products allow for their combination into compositions with perfectly uniform lighting.

Their high load resistance, and the ability to be submerged in water up to 1 meter deep, make this family of products an ideal solution for large gathering spaces. They are designed for flush installation in both outdoor and indoor floors, featuring a clean line that enhances the various contexts in which they are applied, and are intended for the use of high-brightness LED sources.

Technical characteristics of Minimum Maximum products

The lamp body is made of stainless steel and aluminum subjected to anodizing treatment up to 18 microns.
The front diffuser is made of extra clear tempered glass and undergoes a specific anti-stain sandblasting treatment, bonded to the body using a special marine-grade adhesive-sealant. The products are available in IP67 version with dimmable 230VAC DALI power supply and IP68 version with 24VDC power supply. Complete with 0.5 meters of neoprene cable for connection to the power line via specific waterproof junction systems (not included, to be ordered separately). Installation is enabled through the use of the appropriate stainless-steel housing. The presence of special anti-vandal systems makes the fixtures particularly safe in public and private areas, being removable only with a dedicated disassembly key.
