Lodes presents Oblò, in collaboration with Paola Navone – OTTO Studio
Lodes is pleased to announce the launch of Oblò, a pendant lamp with a highly decorative character that offers new ideas on using Pyrex in lighting, modellable as a liquid and malleable material. The result of Lodes’ experience in versatile and modular lighting solutions and enriched by the nonconformist signature of Paola Navone – OHO Studio, Oblò recalls the sensations linked to the marine world, a combination still little explored in the field of lighting design that gives the lamp a distinctive and unique personality. The product expands Lodes’ aesthetic vocabulary with a delicate feminine sensibility and more attention to the decoration that is so dear to the Venetian company. Oblò represents Lodes’ first collaboration with Paola Navone – OHO Studio: her original voice, modulated by an unmistakable language in the design scene, stands out for its style and unconventional vision perfectly reflected in the product.
The inspiration from the sea is therefore found in the fluid silhouette of the product and in a colour palette of tones and shades ranging from iridescent to metallic blue, up to silk white, glossy smoke and transparent, recalling the marine imagery and the reflections of light on the water. Oblò offers high brightness: despite its small volumes, it can illuminate a medium-sized surface. Furthermore – in some finishes – intense brightness filters through the glass, creating special light effects. The frame shape is a novelty compared to the company’s other proposals: a hook composed of a metal core coated in semi-transparent silicone. A white canvas cable with a grey rubberized terminal is knotted to the hook, lightly supporting the diffuser. Knot and cable have a precise aesthetic and functional value: they were wanted by the designer because they are reminiscent of naval ropes knotted to marine buoys, giving the product a fun and playful spirit; at the same time, however, the fabric cable houses the electric cable inside which, through the knot, passes into the hook and feeds the LED almost by magic.
Lodes has found a functional and sophisticated technical solution to hide the path of the electric cable that reaches the LED hidden inside the hook. In this way, only the glass is visible, creating the effect that the diffuser floats in the air like a buoy.
Oblò is available in three shapes with gentle lines – attributable to the designer’s feminine aesthetic sensibility – designed to offer lighting solutions capable of creating different movements, single or in composition, thanks to the possibility of installing it at various heights by adjusting the fabric cable.
Thanks to its versatility and the numerous possible combinations, Oblò lends itself to enriching several environments, from residential to design. From the stairwell to the kitchen islands, from the coffee tables in the F&B area to the lobbies, this pendant lamp illuminates and decorates any space with a touch of elegance and unmistakable style between fun rhythms of light and fresh marine sensations.
Massimiliano Tosetto, Managing Director of Lodes, comments on the new collaboration:
“We are delighted to collaborate with Paola Navone – OHO Studio on this new lamp that expands the Lodes portfolio, perfectly adapting to different environments. The designer expressed the flexibility offered by Oblò in terms of composition and finishes through a surprising installation in the name of colour on the occasion of Milan Design Week at Lodes showroom in Milan.”
