Catellani & Smith has recently opened the doors of its new showroom in Bergamo, right in the heart of the city. Moving well beyond the concept of a simple exhibition space, the showroom will also offer meeting facilities for architects and other figures in the sector.
Designed by Capponi General Contractor, who took care of the layout, and by the interior designer Francesca Ravasio, the showroom is spread over three levels, totalling almost 500 square metres. From the outside, the showroom features box showcases that create a special geometric configuration with settings that show both indoor lamps and outdoor lights.
The common thread that connects all boxes is their characteristic blue background, chosen by Catellani & Smith as the distinctive colour for its Brand Identity, which enhances the lamps lighting effects and their different finishes. When stepping into the showroom, visitors are welcomed in a large open-plan area that has been designed to create a pleasant atmosphere that makes guests feel at home – rather than on a visit to a store. Beautiful black and white images recall some of the most memorable moments in the history of Catellani & Smith.
An inviting living area and a meeting room, which is visible from the two windows overlooking the main street, are distributed around the reception area, which is the centre of the ground floor. Visitors have the opportunity to evaluate the details, finishes and materials of the lamps selected for display, which will be changed several times throughout the year, in order to display standard lamps, as well as customised articles and custom compositions in many different settings. Located on the upper floor are the new sales offices for Italy, which have moved here from the headquarters in Villa di Serio, in response to the growth registered on the Italian market. At the basement floor, an industrial-style structure will be reserved for corporate events, exclusive previews of new collections, training sessions and further training workshops for international trading partners, or installations and exhibitions.
